After primary drying is complete, the material is cooled to room temperature and placed in a sealed container for secondary drying. During secondary drying, any remaining water vapor is removed from the material. This process can take anywhere from several hours to several days, depending on the material and the desired final moisture content.

Freeze Drying Equipment can be classified into two main types: batch and continuous. Batch freeze drying equipment is used for small-scale production and allows for the processing of a single batch at a time. Continuous freeze drying equipment is used for large-scale production and allows for the processing of multiple batches at the same time.
