In-situ Hybridization Market
A technique that allows for the precise localization of a specific nucleic acid segment within a histologic section. The underlying principle of ISH is that nucleic acids, if sufficiently preserved within a histologic specimen, can be detected by using a complementary strand of nucleic acid to which a reporter molecule is attached.
The In-situ Hybridization of the reporter molecule enables the localization of DNA or RNA sequences in a diverse cell population, including tissue and environmental samples. Riboprobes can also be used to localise and assess the level of gene expression. The method is especially useful in neuroscience.
