Liquid Biopsy have the potential to address important issues related to diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics; monitoring the spread of cancer to other body parts; figuring out what genetic changes or mutations a tumor has; figuring out which treatments might be most effective for particular patients; and figuring out whether treatments are working. Liquid biopsies may also have the potential to be used for cancer screening, but more research is required before this is possible. This includes prospective studies to better demonstrate the clinical utility of Liquid Biopsy and evaluation of whether they provide better diagnostic outcomes and/or cost savings when compared to current standard-of-care procedures.
