Sodium Carbonate - It Is A Disodium Salt Of Carbonic Acid With Alkalinizing Properties
Sodium Carbonate

Sodium Carbonate is also referred to as washing soda or soda ash. Sodium bicarbonate can also be referred to as baking soda. A substance made of sodium and acid is called sodium carbonate. Sodium, acid, and hydrogen are all components of sodium bicarbonate. A disodium salt of carbonic acid that has an alkalizing action is sodium carbonate. Sodium hydroxide and carbonic acid are created when sodium carbonate is dissolved in water. Strong base sodium hydroxide acts as an antacid by neutralising gastric acid.

In order to change the pH and alkalinity of water in order to reduce corrosion, Sodium Carbonate is frequently added in concentrations ranging from 1 ppm to 40 ppm. These additions pale in comparison to the quantities of salt and carbonate that are naturally present in foods, beverages, and natural waterways, or those that are added to meals and beverages for particular benefits. With the exception of situations where both total alkalinity and pH are low, the industry standard has historically been to use sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to raise total alkalinity and sodium carbonate (soda ash) to raise pH. Both pH and total alkalinity are significantly influenced by sodium carbonate.
